My students and I have noticed that most audition notices mirror those of a professional adult actor, where you need to prepare and memorize a one minute monologue. Here’s the reality: it’s MUCH more competitive these days for all ages, and that includes kids at the non-professional level as well. I have noticed something has changed as far as audition requirements go, though! Gone are the days when a kid can pretty much just show up to an audition, and do something simple and get cast… because the artistic staff like their personality.

More specifically, it’s cool for kids! This has made my life as an acting teacher very enriching and interesting indeed. It seems like all of a sudden theater and acting is “cool”. Professional actors certainly know this, but it is advantageous for those that are active in community theater or school theater, too!

I'm also so excited for A Fall from Grace- because she's working with the etremely talented Forrest Whitaker! She already has her future set. I'm so excited for her now that she officially plays the little sister to an Oscar Winner! The amazing Jennifer Lawrence. Although she is mostly known as Primrose Everdeen, I'm really looking forward to all of her side projects, including 2 indies: A Fall from Grace & Conversations With Andy, and 1 feature film: The Wonder. Prim was her breakthrough performance, and she absolutely killed it. She was amazing! She is the perfect Prim! Even just her few scenes were very emotional and heartbreaking for me. Willow's performance in "The Hunger Games" astonished me. I love Mackenzie and I know she will go far! I wish her luck on hopefully many years to come! The emotion she carries out in her roles is unreal, especially in her eyes, I'm truly looking forward to all of her future performances. I'm so excited for Interstellar, Mackenzie is being directed by Christopher Nolan! Huge. So proud of her! She's having some fantastic exposure and experience. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matthew McConaughey, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Jeff Bridges, Michael Caine. And now, she is working with some absolutely PHENOMENAL adult actors! So many academy award winners and nominees. I'm so happy that she has already worked with Kristen Stewart, who I love and admire so, so much. I can't wait to see her and Chandler onscreen together. In Plastic Jesus, she shares the lead with Chandler Canterbury. Its an indie drama, and Lou was a new kind of character for Mackenzie to take on, so I can't wait to see her in that type of role! It was also the first film that she lead, as the story revolves mostly around Lou. She plays a character called Lou Cardinal in Wish You Well. Recently, The Conjuring came out, where she plays the role of one of the Perron sisters.

Upcoming she has Two indies: Plastic Jesus & Wish You Well (a film adaptation of David Baldacci's best selling novel). Mackenzie had her breakthrough role as "Renesmee Cullen" in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
